WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage) is Broken (7077)

    Hi all
I wanted the Office 2007 addon - save documents in pdf and xml formats.
    Downloaded from Ms office site.

Was prompted for WGA -- it didn't actually do anything as WGA isn't yet functional for Windows 7 -- I'm running build 7077 X-64. It just tghen passed me straight to the download.

    Installed the add on.

Then I got please activate Windows -- you have 27 days (?) left to activate windows.

It activated OK but I'd ALREADY activated windows -- and where did the 27 days come from -- normally it's 30 days.

However under some circumstances I've seen (different) Windows builds - not necessarily W7 only) saying "To continue using Windows it must be activated within 3 days".

    To the more mathematically challenged 30 -3 = 27 -- co-incidence perhaps.

After re-activation - no further probs -- but found it strange behaviour -- no extra hardware added etc.

    Cheers

I've not had the issue with WGA on any build of Windows 7 & i have installed Office 2007 fine. I'll try downloading the file your on about and see anyway.

Also, the 3 days remaining usually occurs when you choose to 'Activate Windows Automatically once online' during installation.

I just tried it and didn't even get the prompt for WGA downloading the PDF plugin. I just attempted to download it in FF also and it didn't give me a WGA prompt either. I'm running x64 7077 as well. I just googled the pdf plugin though and went straight to the plugin page. Maybe while you were navigating through the site your path wanted to make sure you weren't illegal :P

    Hi all
    "User Error"

During testing I image various systems and often do "Image restores".
The restore I'd done actually Hadn't been activated -- and just by co-incidence the restore was done 3 days ago.
    So everything in order again.

Wouldn't computers be great if they didn't have to worry about USERS.

    Cheers
