Thanks for the number, it got me started on a 3 hour phone session with MS techs. After being transfered 4 times, finaly got one that had me run the MSDT tool with a code number. After reboot W7 was activated. I'm not sure what MSDT is or what it did but everything is ok now.
Problem is, it's been genuine for the past 4 years. When I try to re enter the code, I receive the same answer. I tried to activate on-line and it states that it is not a valid code. I bought the software from a major company and has worked since. Updated from Win XP. At wits end.
