    Welcome!

How long are you waiting? I thought my machine was frozen on updates too, but after an hour, it resumed. Try leaving it overnight or something.

Try to use system restore METHOD II from this link System Restore

Even If you don't have Win7 DVD he can use special recovery disk Download Windows 7 System Recovery Discs — The NeoSmart Files instead

    Hi,

    Welcome to seven forums :)

    * Before you could try anything. I have a few questions?
    * Are you able to get to your desktop. If yes, please go to your desktop.
    * Go to control panel > Windows Updates.

    * Please, give the list of updates that are going to be installed. You should have 2 pending updates as you have informed as above. This may be helpful for further assistance !!!

that is not always the answer.....

What he needs to do is delete the trash out of the windows update folder and start it fresh.... He can do it by going into safe mode.

I just can't remember where in windows that windows updates are put.... Hmmm baffled.

It will still try and install the updates that are hanging...

Also to the guy recommending to do a boot->System Restore...

It will refuse to do the restore do an error: The Windows Image is currently being serviced" something amongst those lines...

My recommendation? Stick to Johnathan's post and wait it out for a bit before calling it. On a prior install an update hanged for three hours before it just continued...who knows what happened and what made it continue...

yeah i have had that happen to me too... but I am just saying, just because you have a little problem.... restoring your computer is not always the solutio. I mean its the easiest and best solution but what do you learn from it.. if it happens again, your back to square one and all that work setting the system back up again after again
