Hi there
I think you need to install SP1 first -- then install SP2.

I'd download the whole update first from MS's servers and install "stand alone" - not using the update. Run the .exe file after downloading.

After installing SP2 then you'll find Office Updates will work fine.

Download details: The 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 2 (SP2)

There's also a link to the download of SP1 if you need it -- bottom of the list in the above link.

I'm not sure if you need to install SP1 first -- possibly not.

Cheers

SP1 is already installed. It is one of the earlier Office updates that installed fine. It is this SP2 that will not install. I will try what you say and keep my fingers crossed.

It's downloading now. Hope it finished before we lose electricity. We are in a blizzasrd right now in DC and due to lose electricity any moment ......

Downloaded fine. Will hold off doing much else until things are safer power wise.

Jimbo, you're the hero.

Because electric power was still on I could not resist (this ia a new laptop with a good battery anyway) and installed the downloaded SP2. Worked like a charm with no problems. Asked to reboot to complete the install and I let it and all is fine.

I did not implement Delphin's suggestions which may also have worked because I fortunately did not need it.

Thank you *all* for helping. It is greatly appreciated.

Just ran Windows update to check and it no longer tells me 2007 Office Suite needs to be installed. So I guess things are back to "normal" and the local update installed correctly.

Lot's of Office 2007 Security Update etc.
Hey guys...I use Office 2007, and been getting some weird Popups about Licensing I think. Seems they have changed the way they are keeping track of Office 2007 or something? I am also wondering why they are pushing the Office 2010 Updates to me? Is it because support for 2007 is ending as I...

Can I Install Office 2016 alongside Office 2007 without conflict?
Hi Folks, The title of the thread says it all really. I have legitimate copy of Microsoft Office 2007 Ultimate on my PC. I have just bought a copy of Office 2016 Professional Plus through the HUP. I haven't installed Office 2016 yet - I use Office 2010 at work and find using Custom...

After Win7 Repair Install & Office 2007 fresh install; no permissions!
I had a run-in with MS Office 2007 that ended up (my bad I'm sure) necessitating a repair install of Windows 7 (64 bit) after a complete uninstall of Office. The Windows repair went well with the exception of a couple of drivers; easily adjusted. Then I did a clean install of Office 2007. It...
