so yesterday two updates told me they needed to be installed, i install them...and two minutes later they same two pop right back up, any ideas? i've even tried installing when shutting down, windows configures them on the reboot, then once again two minutes later windows update is popping up with the same two updates, this happened after uninstalling my norton trial and installing bit defender if that helps any. thanks.

Is those updates showing as installed? If yes, uninstall them, restart and then run update again and check.

Sometimes in update history are false information

Do you have these updates already in Control panel>>Programs and Features>>View instaled Updates? If not this means updates are not installed,if yes just uninstall them in "View installed updates"

    additional advices:

-Try install these hotfixes from Microsoft Download Center

-Control Panel>>Troubleshooting>>System and Security>>Fix Problems with Windows Update

-Try reregister WU in aggressive mode How do I reset Windows Update components?

-Try reregister WU libraries Repair & Fix Windows Updates with Fix WU Utility | The Windows Club
