yeah, orbit made a patcher for many things in w7, themes, the deadline timer, enabling gadgets on earlier versions with uac off, etc. and while some of it still works, the timer kill does not, at the very least.

on a side note; i'm running a mix of 32bit and 64bit drivers, no real issues.

well, the audio on my rig was wobbly to the ear for a bit, but i think i fixed that with some creative wire management.

and my linksys wusb54g was throwing bluescreens at me, but i installed the xp driver and it did an update from WU, so i'll see how that goes, i guess.

The best way if you have no restore points would be a Repair Install.

    Repair Install

generally, starting the patch app and clicking the 'remove plus patch' button and rebooting tends to work for most, but not all.

edit: forgot to mention that you'll need to reactivate windows to get rid of any nags/funky messages, as it resets things back to the fresh install non-activated state.

The 7000 build reinstalls fast while most of the time would be reinstalling the drivers needed, programs, and the updates available. That would be the last option more or less if a repair install still saw any problems.

One thing I would say here if any build was seeing any unresolable problem would be to simply wipe the entire primary the build was on and start over fresh removing anything that could recreate the same thing all over again. It is afterall still beta.

    Hi there
I've got one machine (X-64) which doesn't like the W7 wired LAN drivers even though Windows says it's working

How do you "Force" a Windows XP driver install on the W7 X-64 machine. I thought only "Signed 64 bit drivers" would install or was that for VISTA X-64.

In any case how do you actually get the XP driver to install.

    Thanks

i'm running in test mode and i toggled the group policy bit that checks for the signing or whatever, and have that set to no checking. but even before that i tossed in the xp drivers for my wusb54g and it just installed. no fuss, no muss, no complaints, even if i did have to click 'install this driver anyway' which i got even in xp sometimes.

on a side note; if any of you have the wusb54g and need to install drivers, use the xp set and then hit wu XD i haven't had a bluescreen since
