If you have a legitimate version of W7, then you should have nothing to worry about. At the moment, this update is optional but in due course it will be automatically installed.

no one is worrying. just a lot of do not like any software phoning home without express permission. we want and will have control over it.

Someone will crack the update or come out with a new loader patch anyways. hackers are prolly sweatin bullets as we speak making a new patch, they love it

How will it be come auto if you don't do updates. I feel it is my right to install what updates I want and not Microsoft. I still have a computer with Vista on it without sp1 or sp2 on it and not most of the updates and not having any problems. Most of the updates are a joke. You know everybody if Billy Boy didn't charge high prices for his software more people would by it and not try to steal it.

So far I did the update last week on my main computer with no problems. I have another computer doing updates but not that one. To see how long it will take Microsoft to tell me I have to this update so I can do future updates. That is why more an more people hate Microsoft and are going to linux. If it wasn't for the games I would have been running linux ten years ago. Plus it is free I can run linux on as many computers with the same copy, you can't do that with Billy Boy's.

Well, they could essentially prevent you from installing future updates, service packs, etc without a certain baseline previously installed the box which might include this update.

While I can appreciate what you are saying about having control...a careful reading of the license agreement will show that you don't actually own your OS..but rather are allowed to use it at the discretion of Microsoft.

A joke in what way..most are security based and fixed exploitable holes. With regards to Vista, SP1 fixed many of the performance problems that I experienced with that OS. Prior to that service pack, from a network perspective at work, Vista was just about unusable.

I disagree....people pirate $50 games. People generally don't want to pay for anything if they can avoid it. Besides...there is NO REQUIREMENT to run Windows Vista or Windows 7. Lots of people are still happily cruising away with Windows XP.

Right, so dedicate time to working with Linux regularly and make contributions to it rather than pirating and running Windows. That would be my advice.
