    IE8 updates

    Advice please.

I have updates set to notify me but most of the updates seem to be regarding IE8 or MS office, neither of which I use.

Is it best to d/l and install these anyway or can I ignore/hide them?

Hide them. If not hidden you will be bothered until you are ready to concede and install them.

You actually have IE8 and probably have Office. If security related install them.

Do the updates. Some programs use IE to access the internet without you knowing, mainly to do updates. As an example I have a Gadget from Accuweather on my desktop and it uses IE in the background to update the weather. I found this when using CCleaner and it showed IE Temporary Internet Files when I had not used IE. So it is a good idea to do the updates.

If you have IE turned off , it will not be accessed.

Search >turn off and on Windows features> and then just follow instructions.

    Thanks guys.

I've noticed those internet files from IE in CCleaner. Thought it was strange them being there as I don't use IE

I decided to install the security ones and ignore the Office ones.

    I gave you both 'rep'

    Thanks again.
