    Self Activation!

I run XP Pro SP3 (Activated) Dual Boot with Windows 7 Pro 64bit and XP Mode (full retail 64 bit version). I was putting off activating the 7 in case I would make some hardware changes over the next week or so. I kept getting the activate warning counting down the days.

When I stopped getting these messages I was curious so hit the activate on line only to be informed that 7 was already activated.

I do not recall entering the number! What is the method to check within the 7 program that it has been activated. Can the number be verified?

    Control Panel\System and Security\System

After going there, check the bottom of the page and see if you have a "Windows is Activated" notification below the "Windows Activation" tab.

Also, you can retreive your product key using the Magical Jellybean keyfinder.

It says Windows is activated but the Product ID is nothing like either my XP number or the number that is on the Windows 7 OEM strip on the DVD case.

    Hi,

Not sure if this helps, but in my Win 7 Enterprise version, I got a Multiple Activation Key (MAK) message.
It had me open a "Command" window as Administrator and run the following line:

    slmgr -ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx

    (xxxxx... is your key code)

After closing I got the activation complete message.
