WIndows update not working + does not shut down or restart

    Hi there,

Recently when i go to windows update my computer says that it is downloading updates but never actually does download and times out.

When i turn it off or reset it it also fails to do so and gets jammed on the shut down screen usually saying windows is configuring.

I have tried going into msconfig and turn off all other programmes etc but that does not make a difference.

    Any help much appreciated!

What does it say in event viewer (type eventvwr in search). go to the windows log>application tab.

Look for critical errors (they have rred in the left column) that relate to the problem. when you find them note the event ID and source codes and tell us what they are.

Let us know if you need help
