Flashing cursor/windows logo after recent update

Hi there,

I came home Sunday to find that my computer had restarted to the log in screen. What was odd is that the cursor was blinking VERY rapidly.

I tried to input my pwd and the line immediately filled with the letter. I thought a key was stuck but that was ruled out. I restarted and then the windows logo at startup was blinking rapidly too! Anything that shows progress moves rapidly.

I tried everything and have now tried a fresh install and can't get that to work either. Any ideas? Does this sound like an update problem?

Before we guess lets make sure it is not a big problem
Run antivirus scan and download and run malwarebytes.

My fear is that whenever connected to the net, if you do not have a good firewall the nasties could find you.

That's the problem, because it won't let me get past the log in screen! =(

I ran several scans the day it happened though with no results.

See if safe mode works, but I doubt it.
