i have created a system image (using windows backup and restore) and placed it on an external wd 150gb passport. when i try to do a restore, there doesn't seem to be option to restore from the wd passport. is there any way to restore from the wd passport?
If you have moved the WindowsImageBackup folder to the external drive, then the option one of the tutorial System Image Recovery will guide you to how to restore using that image .
i followed the steps on the link including bios configuration. when i restart the computer (with the wd passport plugged into a usb) i get a black screen saying 'bootmgr is missing press ctl alt del to restart'. any help would be appreciated to be able to restore image stored on wd passport.
If MBR is missing it is to run Startup Repair to fix mbr . If a single run of this repair failed to boot windows properly, we suggest to Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times with restarts .
Are you booting from the Repair CD first?
