    Why aren't these images recoverable?

    Hi guys,
i'd previously started a thread on this but perhaps i angled it wrong.
I have some photos/videos i accidently coppied over whilst on holidays. I've tried using previous versions etc. to no avail. Anyway i was scrolling through again, and not only do the thumbnails still exist, BUT, when i view as a slideshow, the photos pretty much load when it says 'loading' and then switch to the replaced photo. My point is, surely if it can load a blurry version of the picture, the file must be somewhere on the HDD still? I've attached a screenshot for illustration

You may try your luck with PhotoRec. Guide to using PhotoRec recovery software.

In the file types to be recovered select only jpg or whatever is your photo format, so that it will look only for that category of files and rebuild/recover - if possible - , shortening the search time.
