InPrivate Browsing is not appearing on my ie9 jump list

There used to be a section on my internet explorer jumplist called "Tasks", I didn't put it there it was there since I upgraded to ie9. And under this section were two options "InPrivate Browsing" and "Open a new tab". They are now both gone and I don't know how to get them back.

I have already tried reseting ie9's settings to the default, and that didn't work. Then I reinstalled ie9, and that didn't work either...

Hello HyperManSP, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if it resetting jump lists may have it return after a couple of days. :)

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Hello Brink, thanks for the quick reply.

I reset the jump lists a day or two ago. It didn't fix it. I don't think those options were there because they were frequent activity, since they have always been there. Besides I would think if that was the answer "open a new tab" would be back by now.

Okay, I've seen the "InPrivate" and "Open a new tab" come back a few times and then disappear again. I'm fairly certain my problem is connected to a similar problem I am having: the "new tab page" that shows my 10 most popular sites keeps reseting. Whatever is reseting my popular sites is also reseting my jump lists. What could be automatically reseting my history everytime I turn off my laptop?

You might check to make sure that you do not have browsing history set to be deleted on exit to see if that's related, or if some tweaking program that you may have installed is set to clear them at shut down or on exit.
As a test, you might create a new administrator account, log on to it, and see if it behaves the same in that account. This will let you know if it's a system wide issue, or just a issue in your original account.

Alright, so now the "inprivate" and "open new tab" thing on the jump list just show up and disappear whenever they feel like it... I'll have to observe how it behaves for longer before I figure it out. But on th plus side my "most popular sites" on the new tab page stopped resetting. :)

That's better news so far. I hope you find the source soon.
