Internet Explorer Corrupted Stops Everything From Updating?

    Hello,

I would love some advice on how to help me resolve this issue on a Toshiba Windows 7 Laptop.

So I was fixing a friends computer, let a virus scan go. I had to leave so I told him I would handle it when I got back, instead he deleted all of the viruses (using Malwarebytes) and restarted the PC. When the PC was restarted he texted me and told me the internet was not working. So I got back over there a few hours later he tells me he system restored it, issue is still there. So I have ran multiple tests, tried system restoring it again it gave me error "0x80071A91" I ran so many CMD scans and repairs and to no avail I still cannot get internet explorer, google chrome, or even Malwarebytes itself to access the internet. The wireless card is not the issue either as it was working fine beforehand other than it was running slow. Network and sharing center shows everything is looking fine and packets all seem fine. I'm rather stumped at this point I'm very unsure what to do. Ideas?

    Thanks

    Create a new administrator account,

If the issue does not occur in new user account then refer the following link to fix the corrupted user account.

Did you change the original account to standard,

If windows can't make a new admin account without the same issue,
It's time for a re-install because the default account is corrupt
    Cheers.

    Post the mbam scan logs

I was able to fix it by setting the old account to standard, can I bring the old account setting and everything over without it corrupting the new account?

    Hi,
    Yep,
I would however make another admin account because of the time it took to make the original corrupted account standard was too long it may have already started messing with the second new admin account,
Repeat the process but delete the second admin account after making it standard then deleting it,
Then on the fresh account move the user files over
Programs re-install might be best :/
Deal with Personal files only scan thoroughly
    Cheers.

I wouldn't think you would need to use safe mode for that the offending user account is already standard so it's minimized but the transferred files are at risk so they can be scanned normally,
I know you used mbam which is good use these as well,
Make sure you use the Full/ Custom scam with mbam and not just the threat scan,

So I got it all cleaned up it and shut it down and it updated. I turn it back on today and now I'm back to square 1 same issue and I tried to make a new admin account but it still seems corrupted now. Did the updates corrupt the new account?
