BSOD Drive Power State Failure, ntoskrnl.exe, USB ports not working
Hi,
I have a 2 week old HP Envy 14, running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, 4GB Ram, and an ATI Radeon HD 5650 Graphics card.
Initially for the first few days the notebook worked well, no problems. This week, I encountered the dreaded BSOD. The notebook had trouble shutting down or restarting, taking 10-15 minutes or so. Upon rebooting, I get a BSOD with DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE message.
I also encountered the USB not recognizing anything that was connected to it after the computer started. If the mouse/ thumbdrive was connected before the computer booted up, it worked. If it was disconnected after booting up, and reconnected the mouse/ thumbdrive would not work. I do not get anything (no error messages or acknowledgement that anything was connected).
I checked the Device Manager, and there are no error messages.
Strange this is, these problems happen sporadically. Sometimes everything works well- USB working as it should, not issues restarting etc. Upon rebooting, the problem starts again.
I've tried updating the latest Win updates, drivers, HP bios etc but still no luck.
Please help. Thank you in advance.
