When you say the computer freezes, can you move your mouse?
These problems correspond to a computer hang, not freeze, and that usually means the system becomes unresponsive, but you should be able to move your mouse. It will just take a long time for tasks to complete: i.e. clicking the start menu may take a few minutes for the start menu to actually open.
If the computer is hanging and not actually freezing: Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7 should fix it. If it is freezing, that is likely a hardware problem and we will need to do other troubleshooting steps.
