Okay good, thanks for the feedback.
Okay good, thanks for the feedback.
Just asking some questions .... have you updated the 150Mbps Wireless N adapter driver from Download - Welcome to TP-LINK
Match your device model from the list here ..... (you will get this page by following the link above)
The last BSOD uploaded in this thread is caused by this driver.
And, you told that you updated, still the driver is very old.Code:Unable to load image athur.sys, Win32 error 0n2 *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for athur.sys *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for athur.sys ******************************************************************************* * * * Bugcheck Analysis * * * ******************************************************************************* Use !analyze -v to get detailed debugging information. BugCheck 1000007E, {c0000005, 8725e038, 922efc34, 922ef810} Probably caused by : athur.sys ( athur+26038 ) Followup: MachineOwner ---------
Wherefrom you updated it? If from the link I stated above, it it the latest one that you can get?Code:start end module name 87238000 873bc000 athur T (no symbols) Loaded symbol image file: athur.sys Image path: athur.sys Image name: athur.sys Timestamp: Wed Apr 20 15:35:59 2011 (4DAEB007) CheckSum: 0018C064 ImageSize: 00184000 Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4
Let us know.
Also, as a test only, disable the webcam and do some USB related troubleshooting. For the ports, first, uninstall and reinstall the USB ports drivers.
- Right click on Computer icon > manage. It will open the computer management window.
- Click on "Device Manager" in the left pane, it will list all installed devices up.
- Expand "USB Serial Bus Controllers" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
- Click on one item to select, then right click and uninstall.
- Do the same for all.
- Restart the computer.
- At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate drivers.
And, Disable USB Selective Suspense too.
USB Selective Suspend - Turn On or Off
For the devices, first, detach all the USB devices other than the keyboard and mouse.
Then, Update the drivers for them all, including the keyboard and mouse, if any third party drivers are installed for them.
Also have a look at USB Driver - General Fix for Problems.
But, first of all, it is to know that is the installed athur.sys is the latest wireless N driver that you can have? If so, how old the adapter is?
TP LInk driver manually updated from TP link website.
Device is just a couple years old. They still sell them and still support them.
I've update the athr.sys driver more than a couple times, so why would it
roll itself back?
I never use the webcam, it is always disabled.
Selective Suspend has always been disabled.
Windows did not autoconfigure anything for the USB,
it now says 'driver not found'.
I was unable to complete the general directions for USB / General Fix
as even after editing the permissions, I still can't delete the infcache.1 driver.

So you updated the drivers and those rolled back automatically?
Contract your vendor and ask them to supply the driver that they provide to the new buyers.
Do you use any driver to initialize the adapter? If so, update that driver too. And the vendor can supply the appropriate drivers I hope.
I'd like to get the USB controller drivers reinstalled and close this thread.
I uninstalled them (did not delete) as directed.
They were not automatically reinstalled by WinBlows.
The chipset drivers are up to date per the intel website
I can not DL any USB controller drivers through the HP website;
they are not available.
thanks.

jtkm, it is the first time the USB driver uninstall instruction failed. I dont know why it failed, but as it is unwanted, we should try to recover it.
See ... those are your USB hardware resources.
No code has to be inserted here.
Here is the PnP device IDs:
No code has to be inserted here.
And here are the drivers who controls those all ..... all the drivers are system drivers, and no third party drivers.
No code has to be inserted here.
All are system default drivers. No intel or third party drivers are there. Those system drivers are must to be auto-configured upon a restart.
Still, I request you to upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.
- Click on the start button
- Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
- File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
- Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
- Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.
It will help to compare, to review the extent of damaged caused.
BTW, no third party driver will be auto configured. Those are to be installed manually. It was directed in my previous post.
And none of the ports are controlled by any third party driver, as we can see from the above expression. For the devices, first, detach all the USB devices other than the keyboard and mouse.
Then, Update the drivers for them all, including the keyboard and mouse, if any third party drivers are installed for them.
Waiting for your reply, hopefully the damage, if it is there, will be recovered.
As like those, I have the list of all your third party USB related drivers. I will compare it with the recent msinfo32, will check which drivers are missing and will provide you the links to get them.
Nothing will go wrong, it never went wrong.
Try Drivers Informer: Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB Universal Host Controller - 27C8 overview.
EDIT: My learned geek friend Kari suggests:
A clean reinstall will solve all the driver related issues, at once. If you follow Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7, you can get the best possible clean reinstall, which will maximize windows native performance.

I agree with this suggestion of a clean install - refer to the link that Arc provided : it has been used succesfully many, many times here.
We can support you through this installation to make sure everything is perfect, if you need it.
