Frequent BSOD/PC freezing, error 4105, suspect ATI Radeon HD 5670

Good day, I need help resolving my home PC from freezing or rebooting multiple times a day. When I do get a BSOD error message it is a 4105. I have also received a specific error stating: ATI Radeon HD 5670 not responding - display driver stopped (both recovered after a reboot). My system specs are as follows:

Dell Studio XPS 9100 i7-930 (purchased in 2011)
    8 GB Ram
    1 TB Sata II 7200 (SATA: p1-Samsung HD103SJ)
1 GB ATI Radeon HD 5670
    Anti-virus - Norton Internet Security

I have ran Memtest86 for over 16 hours - with no errors reported. I have tried to update my drivers either through Windows (which always says that I have the latest drivers even though most are from 2006) and I have successfully updated some directly from manufacturer's site - but I am sure I am missing some. And, I have read similar tech articles until my head is spinning. I have also tried re-seating my adapter card and blew out any dust inside the box.

I am attaching the DM Log Collector file. Thank you.

Hello craftxx15 and welcome to the sevens forum:

The more info you give the better for the BSOD experts and you do have quit a few mini-dumps.

Have you run a full scan of your antivirus software.

Do you have malwarebytes installed if not we do recommend that you install the free version and run a full scan.
    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free

Also have you tried to see if it does it in safe mode.

    It is Norton, apparently.

Working on some of the suggested steps..

    1. Downloaded MBAM (installed and ran a scan - more info below) and Microsoft Security Essentials (haven't installed yet until I try complete some of the other tasks).

    2. While installing MBAM my PC froze completely and had to do a hard boot. After waiting few mins, I powered up and PC didn't start - just gave 2 beeps - pause - 2 beeps... etc. I performed hard boot again and then Windows launched "Startup Repair" (I did not do a Restore) and I allowed Windows to try a automatic repair - no joy. I do not see a minidump file on this incident to upload.

    3. I ran the MBAM scan and it found one malware file: Pup.optional.DomaIQ - which I allowed it to delete. According to the Malwarebytes tutorial on Windows 7 forum, they suggest that I try SFC / Scannnow - System File Checker, and upload any results to this forum? I haven't done the SFC / Scannow yet.

    4. I checked my filesystem for the location of the 3 problem Norton files and only found one (BHDrvx64.sys) under Norton Data\21.6.0.32\Definitions\BashDefs\.. The other two files are Norton's but do not exist (that I can see) on my PC. I tried to research these files online and found others had same file errs; they tried removing Norton AVS and used MSE but their BSOD problems persisted. I will also give it a try (removing Norton software and trying MSE) but after I try the other suggested scans. I have been using Norton as AVS for many years (on several PCs and laptops) and have never had viruses. However, it is possible that these Norton files have been corrupted, so I will uninstall the product later and reinstall after a trial with Microsoft Security Essentials.

    5. I will also try running the PC in SafeMode for a period of time.

    Thanks.

I downloaded Malwarebytes and ran a scan - one malware file found and removed.

I ran System File Checker and it did not find any integrity violations.

And, I ran a full scan using Norton Security AV and it detected 4 x Trojan.Gen.2 virus and these were resolved/quarantined. No crashes during the last two scans.

Uninstalled Norton AV and installed MSE AV

    Hi, here is my status:

    1. I crashed once while starting up in Safe Mode (PC rebooted itself)

    2. BSOD (blue screen froze with stop code details)
    Stop 0x0000007F iastor.sys address at FFFFF88001031000

    3. I removed Norton AV (using their removal tool) and installed Microsoft Security Essentials (and MBAM)
Windows Defender wanted to be installed - so I let it install and made sure Windows Firewall was turned ON.

    4. After the MSE program installed/updated, my PC crashed during the 1st AV scan process - it BSOD and the blue screen stayed on until I rebooted. I could not see that either of the last two BSODs (and numerous PC crashing without BSOD) that any minidmps were created. Here is what I noted from the BSOD screen:

    Memory Management, Stop 0x0000001a, (0x0...41790, 0xFFFFFA8006609B30, 0x0...FFFF, 0x0....0)

    5. I ran DM Log collector just in case there is something you can see.

    6. edit: I ran another AV scan using MSE and it completed without finding problems.

    PC freezes without crash dump

Yes, I only get a useable BSOD crash dump file after 10-15 crashes. Most of the time the PC screen freezes on whatever we happen to be working on online. I do a cold start and Windows opens with the black "Unexpected shut down" screen suggesting I open Windows in Safe Mode etc.

I will definitely send a DM Log collector file when I see a "completed" BSOD minidump file was created.

In the meanwhile, I am attaching a screenshot pic of my last PC crash/screen frozen with lines which occurred about 20 mins ago.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors. Run memtest86+ for at least 8 consecutive passes.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.Take a screenshot of the furmark window before closing it. Upload the screenshot for us. Also let us know if you have experienced any crash/BSOD and/or artifacts during the test.

Stress test the CPU. It saves the result as a .txt file in the prime95's folder. Upload the file for us.

    Let us know the results.
