    Icons Black

    Ohai,

A lot of my icons on my desktop and within folders no longer show the original icon, but instead show a black square.

Here is a screenshot of what the icon's look like on my desktop.

It is a bit annoying. The 3 blank folder's shown there are all 3 of my hard drives.

Anyone know a fix for this?

    Mackenzie.

Yes, I tried the CMD way, then logged off. That did not work.

So then I tried deleting the file then restarting but that did not work either.

That's all I can think of, you can keep checking back and see if someone else has another idea. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Google wasn't much help either, good luck with that.

    Yep, Bing didn't help me.

Thanks for trying. I will keep looking out here but might get to the official Windows Forums. Might have a solution.

    Hello,

I have found the fix to this problem so I will post it here in case anyone else runs into it.

All I had to do was use this tutorial from the forum. I restored the icon, then logged off and back on and my icons were fixed.

    Mackenzie :)
