    Sony Vaio VGN AR71E

    Hi,

I have a Sony Vaio VGN AR71E and can't seem to find anyone else that has the same model so I have been working out my upgrade to Windows 7 driver issues from other VGN models with the same problems. I am still looking for drivers for the Motion eye camera, have tried a few from similar models but with no joy! Also, my special function buttons and my DVD drive buttons are not working. Most of the issues have been with integrated media hardware and I have tried the Sony website for firmware downloads but these problems still exist.

Would be great to hear from someone with a VGN AR71E but I won't hold my breath.

Any help would be much appreciated
    Many Thanks
    Martin

I tried looking at Sony. That model isn't on the U.S. Sony site.

What you will probably have to do is use Vista drivers for those that are missing.
You don't state if your Win 7 is 32bit or 64bit.
You will need to use Vista 32bit for Win 7 32bit and Vista 64bit for Win 7 64bit.
Some drivers are marked Vista 32bit and 64bit so you can use them no matter the Win 7 version.

The below tutorial will show you how to install in Compatability Mode.

    Welcome to Seven Forums
I know it's a little late for this but you should have run the Windows upgrade advisor before trying to update to Windows Seven as the Sony site doesn't recommend this update.Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor - Download - Microsoft Windows

We also need to know if you upgraded to 32 or 64 bit windows to try and locate your missing drivers.

If you would go to device manager and right click on the device>properties>details tab>drop down menu>select Hardware id> Copy and Paste the hardware Id string it will help in trying to find a compatible driver for you.
    Thanks Fabe

    Hi,

I am running 32 bit version. I was advised there would be no problem upgrading to 7, I only seen the upgrade adviser after it had been installed. Apart from the missing drivers I think it has been ok.
