Thank you for your help and efforts =) I just tried to download and install the LAN driver in compatibility mode, but i still can't connect to the internet via ethernet. Do you have any other ideas? =/ sorry for the trouble.
its the nvidia chipset driver you require not the lan driver

Grab the Nvidia chipset driver from HP. HP conveniently doesn't say exactly what is in it, but I downloaded it and had a look and it does have the Nvidia ethernet driver in it.

Also if you want to fin out which Nforce chipset is in it grab this,

CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

and it should show which one it is on the Motherboard tab.
Ahhh thank you so much! I'm going to look for the driver now. Thank you!!

I have tried that many times, it says it has the right driver already... when i right click the Nvidia Networking Controller in device manager and go to properties, it says "this device cannot start"... and like i mentioned it has the yellow exclamation mark beside it. I've went to hp site, nvidia site to get driver and no luck. Darknight got his fixed but he never explained what he did to fix.. thanks for the quick reply.
