XP partion strictly for gameing?
Would creating and XP partion on my Hard Drive be a good idea to use for only Gaming since it uses a lot less resources than Windows 7, or would it be a waste of time to try?

You could very much do it. With a lower spec PC it might be more beneficial with performance.
Easily possible and doable.
It's also quite possible to trim down the active processes in win 7.
However, you only have 1 gig of ram, I really wouldn't have suggested win 7 for you in the first place as you are at the bare minimum to begin with.
I got Windows 7 for it's functionality, XP booted faster, but Windows 7 is faster when searching for files, which is something I do too often.
Back on topic, the reason is mainly for GTA: San Andreas, there is this mod I put into it that is called "ENB Series," but it's the version compatible with graphics cards of my type, and I predict that because of XP's low resource usage, it would improve the GTA: San Andreas gameplay and help it run more smoothly.
i used to keep an xp partition just for fallout 3 - crashes like crazy on 7 x64
good point, maguscreed, about the single gig of ram.
another gig will make a big difference - doubling your ram (at that level) is one of the cheapest and best upgrades you could possibly do...
fair enough, i know what it's like to be broke - not much fun
i suppose it all depends on your particular hardware and drivers.
the only way to find out is to try it...
you may want to look into some software like gamebooster too.
here's some great instructions on setting up a dual-boot system in case you aren't sure how.
