    aero snap - temporarily turn off?

    I find the aero snap feature of windows 7 really useful, just not all the time. What I would love is for a feature where the 'snap' kicks in that I could press a key (ctrl, alt, shift something like that) that would temporarily disable snap so that I can position windows where I want.

    Is there anyway of achieving something like this, either natively or through third party software?

    It is easy to avoid hitting aero snap by not letting the mouse touch the edges of the screen.

    but sometimes I want to arrange my windows at the edge of the screenm but not have them snap. I know that I'm able to arrange them any way I like 'in the middle'

    Apart from turning OFF
    Code:
    Code:Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
    "WindowArrangementActive"="0"
    or ON in the registry, I know of no other method.
    Code:
    Code:Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

     [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
     "WindowArrangementActive"="1"
    There's also this tutorial - Turn Aero Snap On or Off

    I always have it defaulted to off. Very seldom do I want two Windows opened side by side at 'full screen'.

    Hi Lasy B. Aero Snap has never worked for me.
    I had a thread about it once and several people tried to help but to no avail and the thread died on the vine.
    I've downloaded the fix, I've been through the control panel settings and none of the disabling boxes are ticked.
    Just now I tried again through regedit.
    My "WindowArrangementActive"="1" is there. I deleted the 1 and re entered it, hoping this might do something, rebooted but still no Aero Snap.
    I don't mind doing without it but it's irritating not knowing why it doesn't work.
