Bookmarks appear in quick launch tool bar

Using Win 7 x64 and Firefox 4 with a Dell 23.5" LCD monitor, I randomly see Firefox bookmarks (1 or 2 bookmarks) appearing in the area at the bottom of the screen where the Firefox add-ons are shown (one add-on currently - "Ad Block Plus" - so the red stop sign shows) and blending into the taskbar/quick launch tool bar. These random bookmarks show up about centered on the width of the screen.

If I click anywhere in the Taskbar/quick launch tool bar, the shown bookmarks vanish. What the heck is going on? And, can it be fixed?

Hi Boaterbob and welcome to the Forum. Could you perhaps post a screen shot so we can better understand you problem. See link.

JohnnyA, when the persistent icons show up in the taskbar after using the Firefox Bookmark menu selection, clicking START to get to the snipping tool is the same as clicking anywhere in the taskbar and that makes the bookmarks vanish. Right now there is a rectangular box imposed over the Firefox 'add-on' bar (at the bottom of the Firefox page) and over the Taskbar - in this box are the 'Windows seven forums' words and under that "Open All in Tabs".

Edit: it seems that when I open a Bookmark folder, that the last bookmark in that folder plus the always at the end of a folder list, the words "Open All in Tabs" are what show up in the Taskbar.

So whatever Bookmarks folder I open, the last bookmark in that folder plus the words "Open All in Tabs" is what shows up. Clicking on the Taskbar makes the image vanich.

Hi Boaterbob. Umm - now I see why you cannot get a screenshot of this annoying problem. I'm unfamiliar with Firefox so perhaps one of our other, more knowledgable members, can jump in and lend a hand. I'm quite sure someone will solve your problem.

You can hit control + b to close the bookmarks toolbar. You can also hit the start button on your keyboard and type snip to open the snipping tool.

Here's a discussion about this issue in the Mozilla forum -

Not sure it the problem is a Firefox or Windows7 issue.
