Windows 7 x64 very slow in use plus 5min boot time
Hi everyone
Over the last few weeks my computer seems to be slowing down considerably. To the point now where it takes +5mins to boot and once in operation programs/file browsing often lag and the "not responding" message appears. Also upon opening programs and files, windows lags and the blue loading circle just spins for minutes before opening.
For some strange reason, my internet also seems to be affected, such as entering an address into Chrome then having to wait a few minutes for it to even respond. However, I don't believe that to actually be my internet connection... rather than the system just running slowly.
I bought this system only a few months ago brand new and the spec is:
Windows 7 Home Premium x64 bit SP1
Intel Core i5-2320 CPU @ 3.00GHz
8gb RAM
My HDD is 984gb with over 700gb available
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti
I have ran a variety of malware/spyware programs such as CCCleaner, AdAware, Malware Bytes and no virus's or malware has been detected. I also ran a registry cleaner and everything appears to be fine.
For my main anti virus program which runs in the background I have AVG - again this finds no issues.
I have followed advice on other forums which mention USB devices, blank one colour desktop backgrounds etc, however my computer is still as slow as ever.
I also tried a Windows Repair as suggested on an article I found however I was unable to complete this as a message appeared stating that the version I currently had was updated compared to my original windows cd/dvd
Any ideas or advice would be most welcome
Thanks
Rich
