Command Prompt Question (Please Help Me!)
I have a computer that is in a disasterous state. It will completely start up most of the time, only to freeze and restart within less than a minute. It then says "Operating System Not Found" upon attempting to boot. Once I see that, I have to hold the power button down to turn it off, then power it back up, watch it get to the desktop, freeze and start the whole process over again.
There is one folder on the desktop that I want to move to an external hard drive, but the computer freezes so quickly that I do not have time to do so. I would like to move this folder to the external hard drive and then restore the system to its factory settings. However, I am not sure if the computer will stay on long enough to do a system recovery, or if that will even fix my issues. That being said, if someone can help me figure out a way to move this folder to the external drive, that will be enough for me and I'll just throw the computer away if that's what it comes to.
I am very novice when it comes to using command prompt. However, I am wondering if there is a way that I can use command prompt before the system fully starts to move the folder. If someone can explain to me how to do this and what commands I need to use, I would be eternally grateful. Please help me.
Thank you
