Did you install it in compatibility mode on one computer and not the other?

And may I ask why you use that addressbook program? I'm just wondering because I consider anything that old to be a security risk.

    Joseph,

Do you have UAC disabled on the PC that doesn't have the UAC shield overlay on the icon?

    It's really OK, guys.

You have more important things to do.

Let me try pushing the slider all the way up.

    edit: no difference

Odd, you might see if toggling it to set "run as administrator" in compatibility mode off, apply, turn back on, apply, then run the program to get a UAC prompt may add the shield.

It is installed exactly the same on both computers EXCEPT the one without the shield was changed to compatibility mode later.

I'm using the address book because it was the only one that I could find that I liked. I used it with XP for quite a while and I am not looking forward to typing in hundreds of addresses again.

I'm using the free version of this. http://www.freebyte.com/addressbook

LOL, yeah I know I can get obsessive about some issues.

One last thing to try is to rebuild the icon cache.

Brink, no one is more obsessive than me but we have to weigh the importance sometimes.

I tried to give you a thumbs up for your contribution but the system told me to hold off and spread the thanks around.

    So, I did.

    Thanks.

No worries mate. Hopefully we'll get it to show eventually for you. :)

You wouldn't happen to be logged in to the built-in Administrator account on the PC without the UAC shield would you?
