    impossible instal of seven

    Hello,

First i'm french, so sorry for my bad words or setences.

I use a acer computer with vista sp1. I've got 3 parts on my hdd.
That is to say an eisa part for recovery, second part C: for vista premium and a third one for datas.

I've downloaded seven on the microsoft website and burn it with nero 7 and imagburn.

Noone works correctly, the best is that one i've burned with imagburn. speed 2.4 on an rw and 4 with an r

Each time i try to install seven, i've got the install page, i press "' install now"', and i received that beautifull message ..

"' windows couldt not collect information ( for os image ) in the specefied image files ( install.wim ) does not exist "'

I've checked my iso disc and the "' install.wim "' really exist on the dvd.

An other detail, each time after pressing "' install now "' and before the beautiful message my floppy tries to run.

If you have ideas or tips, they are welcome.

    Sincerely yours,
    Labougie,
      My Computer

It is probably your installation media causing the problem..

This happens when it cannot verify the install.wim image on the DVD.

Try changing DVD discs brand, or using an external DVD rom drive. Perhaps yours is failing. If anything else fails, try installing from a USB stick.

    hi limneos,

    thanks for your quick answer.
    I've used an emtec dvd+rw an a verbatim dvd+r 16.
Before registerind here i've already the usb install, but I haven't got 4gb usb disk yet.

If i use this method, may I tranfert all files from the promt command or may i use paste and cut from windows ( if i mark all files in )
following this method task bar / tools / tools option and mark all files.

cause in the usb instructions I haven't understood that line
    xcopy x:\*.*/s/e/f y:\

x is the place where are the iso files
    f is my usb key
but s e and f i dont konw what is it.

I have follow your link and that one USB Windows 7 Installation Key Drive - Create
And I'll do my best to use this method, I try to find a usbkey this week and give you a feedback asap.
    Great,
    Labougie,

You can copy the contents from windows explorer too, no need to run the cmd commands.

    But just so you know:

    xcopy x:\*.* /s/e/f y:\

on the above example, X: is your Windows 7 installation DVD or mounted ISO and Y: is your USB Stick drive. Change accordingly.

You can also just mount the .iso and install from within Vista. That's what I did.

    Hi

The "s", "e" and "f" in that command line are simply switches (little commands). The "s" is the switch meaning "Copies Directories & Subdirectories except empty ones", the "e" is "Copies Directories & Subdirectories including empty ones", and the "f" is "Displays full source and destination file names while copying".
You don't need to do anything with those kind of switches, but as stated already the "x" and "y" ones are drive letters that need to be changed to match what your drive lettering is on your machine. You can always tell those ones because they have the Full Colon mark behind them - X: Y:

    Hello,

    Emcee
I've try your method with ultra-iso and with daemon tools but there is each time a mistake.

So this method is not correct for me, this afternoon i try with a usb key.

    Chappy
Thanks a lot for your explaintions for the prompt command.
I've read that there was 2 methods
1 with a usb key ---------> and the prompt command
2 with a usb key ---------> and only pasta and cut
I think first i t'll the second one.

In all of cases, i'll give you a feedback, and hope it'll be a good news.
