Welcome to Seven Forums Lincolliu. Here is a complete set of steps. You will need to buy a w7 key to do this.
    Upgrade Install with Windows 7

You'll have a better install if you boot the Win7 installer to do a Clean Install Windows 7 deleting all partitions to create and format new using the Drive Options in Steps 7 and 8.

Make your Vista Recovery disks first if you might want to return to Vista for any reason, although you can always reinstall it with the Product Key on the COA sticker if its still readable.

Other tips here to assure you get a perfect install are the same for Clean Reinstall

Thank you for the answer! But do I really need a window 7 key to update? Is there a free version of window 7 somewhere I can use?

Absolutely. An Upgrade version will cost much less than full retail. Make sure it's genuine, there's many ratbags selling hacked and malware-ridden version over there and everywhere.

I doubt they would have it anymore. Call if there's a local one. Newegg had some left. Some on Amazon have been counterfeit.

Many thanks for providing the website! In this website, windows 8 update is even much cheaper than windows 7 update, why is that? Can I just go ahead to update to windows 8 as it's the latest version?

If you have a touchscreen then Windows 8 might be worth considering, but Win7 is by far the better OS.
