Once any version is found to be buggy I always wait a few before taking a leap! So far however the only two I ran into any real problems with was the 7.9 while still running Vista and now the 10.5 being a problem but quickly solved!

Well as the truckers often say I'll wait a few and until then say: "10.4! good buddy".

This was the first problematic Cat. version seen here since the 7.9!
Remember the installation dramas with 9.4?

I was probably the only one who didn't actually have any while many were not so well off with that one! The 7.9 and it's patch was a waste of time and had been as buggy as this new one!

The 10.4 went back on and not glimer of anything showing when you have a good one on save the download somewhere and then try a newer one when needed!

The 9.6 was the better over the 9.5 to replace the 9.4 there. That seems to be the key if you run into a headache with one wait until the second to follow is out and not beta unless utterly necessary but the final. Rushing at each newer one every time is like fixing what isn't broke and risks breaking something.

    Just an observation

I was reading thru this post yesterday, Win 7 64X, XFX HD5670 Problems, and came across this:

    Hello,
Any reason in particular you chose the ATI version of the driver? XFX cards often have some differences in their drivers to work correctly with their versions of both nVidia and ATI graphics cards. You can download 10.5 for your XFX card at their site, it was released 3 days after ATI released their version.

I kept track as I have XFX's 5870 XXX Edition and noted they still had 10.4 listed until just a few days ago, 10.4 was less responsive so I reverted back to 10.3, have not tried 10.5 yet.

If you don't have a user account there you have to have one, all you need is the s/n or model of your card and an email address, the account is free.

XFX US website is at Home
So, I was like, "I didn't know!" So I downloaded 10.5 from XFX's website (as I was still running 10.4), removed the old drivers, ran driver sweeper, then installed the new drivers. When everything was up and running, I ran WEI -- and lost a tenth of a point in both Graphics and Gaming graphics. When running 10.4, they were both 7.3 and now, both 7.2.

Please don't think I'm all up in arms about the loss of a tenth of a point, but it is just curious to me--that's all. Every other time after intalling new drivers, my scores have remained the same. Again, it's not a big deal to me in the least, but when reading other posts in which I see "10.5 Hosed Me!" and other stuff like that, I was just wondering...

No problems since the update, so all is good.

The thing I saw right off was a buggy update there. The 10.4 is a working and stable release over what I saw right away with the 10.5 unfortunately. I think AMD is trying to cover too many model series by different makes in just one release of the catalyst since each model series even has a different set of vpu chips!

Consider how many models by various makes there are from the 2400s up through the latest 5970s! Right before the last build ran into a hardware problem the 10.3 acted up on the old Radeon HD 2600XT there showing you see a bad one every so often like the 7.9 and 9.4s.

I had to roll back to the 10.4 blue screen with the new 10/5 on my Windows 7 64 bit with Hd 5670 ATI card works after the roll back perfectly.
