After test if it doesn't need more passes for repairs, use the Advanced Seatools to wipe the HD for clean reinstall. Clean Install Windows 7

You are running the Long test now and it predicts 6 hours? This is unusual. Did the short test give you a reading on SMART data? What were results?

Monitor it to see real time results as it may do a series of repairs - you want to know they were all successful.

greg, This is very confusing. I used the installer i got from the link you sent me.

Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp. then SeaTools for Windows v1.2.0.6 (10.15.2011)

The small test worked fine. Pass with no problems.

Do you have teamviewer so you can take a look on my computer through that. only if you got time for it though.

TeamViewer runs from Windows which you don't have installed.

Let's get the HD test done so you know if that's the problem. Then you need to read back over the thread to make sure everything has been pursued. There is a lot else here that needs to be nailed down.

Did you run the SeaTools short test? You seem to be saying you did but don't report the results.

And you don't say if you are running the long test when it tells you it will take 6 1/2 hours. Yes or no?

When you select the long test, what is the exact message which it gives? Don't stop it if it's running now, just report all it says now.

Are you running the test from the booted CD, or from Windows?
