Try to fix some bug after partition seven/xp

    Hi,
I made a dual boot seven/xp on my netbook Compaq pesario cq57 307TU.
Everything is working quite well except:
-Netbook doesn't seem to charge the battery while running xp
-Port com doesn't seem to be recognised by xp but i need one for running a gps
    Thx for your answers

Are there devices missing their drivers in Device Manager?

Is there Compaq battery management software in Windows 7? Check the Compaq Support Downloads webpage for your model. There may be no XP for your model so you'll have to try installing Vista/Win7, if necessary in Compatibility Mode

Check the GPS manufacturer's website Support Downloads webpage for XP software, or consult their tech support for assistance.

    Thank you

I think that the proper drivers are installed but i'am not sure. The device manager notice me that drivers of 'sm bus controller' and 'PCI device' aren't installed. But coming from seven i depend on what compaq give and i can't find them.
Maybe is there a general solution i ignore?
I will have a look at the compatibility mode. I thought it was designed to run old programms with seven.

Anyway, if there's any new idea i will try them (we badly need this GPS tomorow)
    cheers

You can check for XP drivers, for your HP/compaq PC here:

You want Chipset drivers for SM Bus Controller and possibly PCI device. What do you have in your PCI slots?

Can you use your GPS in Win7 instead?

@gregrocker: I don't think there's anything on my pci slot(EDIT my bad: ethernet controller and cardreader... at least).
We use the gps with a navigation software running on XP.

    @theog: I'm gonna have a loock.

I repeat myself but thx a lot.

Maybe you can install the Navigation software in Win7 Compatibility Mode if it won't work installing it normally.

Try XP SP2 Compatibility Mode. Click the blue link above to read how.
