it only has usb device, i have windows made in my usb flash it boots up, but before it starts to install, it need some drivers for dvd/cd device (which i dont have) or usb, i have usb driver on seperate flash but it dosnt recognize it or its just a bad driver i dont know. Now it has linux installed, maybe this is the problem. help pls
This error is caused by a bad installer. Confirm your ISO or download another to be sure, write to flash stick using Universal USB Installer with Win7 in dropdown menu. Boot under USB, Removable or HD's using one-time BIOS Boot Menu key, with HD set to boot first in BIOS setup.

Edit: Since this thread was active we now see cases where USB 3 ports need drivers supplied manually using the Load Drivers link on the booted installer's Drive Selection screen shown in Step 7 of Clean Install Windows 7.
It's also possible you have a USB 2 port on a USB 3 PC, so try changing the stick to another port, reboot into installer.
Only in the rarest cases however is a USB 2 driver needed since the Win7 installer has all of those. This error has been from the beginning 99% a bad installer. Download a new ISO and burn or write using the tool in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

I know this is an old thread but I thought I would join up in case anyone else want's to know how to get around this issue. It's nothing to do with the install being corrupt, it's due to certain Dell laptops not allowing USB devices to boot from the USB 2.0 port.
This is the issue I had, just so that you know if this will solve your issue or not. Dell Vostro 3750, 3 USB ports in total, 2 are USB 3.0 and 1 is USB 2.0. If I attached my USB device to the USB 2.0 port it wasn't recognised during the post/boot, the USB 3.0 ports were recognised during the post/boot. With the USB device in one of the USB 3.0 ports I would get to the beginning steps of the install and an error would come up asking for a driver to be installed. The driver that is being asked for is actually for the USB 3.0 ports as they are not recognised by the Windows install.
Solution:
I downloaded the USB 3.0 drivers for the Dell Vostro 3750 (may be different for yours)
Extracted the driver to a second USB stick
Plugged the USB stick into the USB 2.0 Port (works in the windows setup, as described it just doesn't work in the boot)
Browsed to the X86 folder of the extracted files
Installed the driver a few times
Hey presto.... worked a treat.
The issue stems from the Dell bios. Whether there has been an update or not I have no idea, but not being able to boot from the USB 2.0 port is just silly.

Thanks for sharing this details. However, most system doesn't require any drivers to be loaded as most drivers are built into the windows.
However, there might be some devices which doesn't have built in drivers in windows and for them you need to load the drivers as you mentioned.
It might be specific to the model of the system as I have used USB 2.0 port to load various version of windows on dell and non dell systems. They have worked most of the times without any issues.
If it requires the driver it is mostly chipset which needs to be transferred to the USB stick and then you can continue with the installation.
I am sure information you shared would be useful for other users as well.
Yeah it's the first time I've encountered this sort of error with Win7, had it previously with WinXP but I believe that was down to there not being a lot SATA drivers in the XP installation.
The issue is purely down to the Dell BIOS from what I can tell. If they had allowed booting from the USB2.0 port then there wouldn't be a problem, seems like an oversight. I'm almost tempted to see if there's a later revision BIOS available to see if the issue was addressed.
Oh, the reason it causes a hassle with the Win7 installation is that USB3.0 drivers are not included in the installation disc. They need to be installed separately via my instructions above.
I'm fairly certain there will be very few people with this particular issue though, however, it can be annoying when there aren't any answers due to how few people come across the problem so it's slim pickings when trying to find a solution.
I need to share this. I almost had given up when I found a way to install W7 on Vostro V131. My experience was a bit more difficult than posted by others.
1. As posted on may forums you need to do a bootable copy of the installation CD of W7 on a USB stick on an other computer.
2. Boot from it and install. You can ONLY use the USB2 connection on the left side as USB3 is not supported natively at istallation time.In all post I have seen this has been successful...but not for me!
3. It said "installation program could not create new system partition". I tried many ways but no success. Totally impossible. I read on internet that there is a way to come pass it by boot up from USB but after you have selected language and get the screen to hit the button "Installation", take out the USB and put it in again. It seems that this works on some PCs BUT NOT FOR ME! Other posts said that if you get this message with other computers you should remove all USB devices completely...but that is not possible as installation is on that USB and there is not build in CD drive...Hmmm
4. I got the idea that if I made a second partition on the HD and made it bootable I could transfer the installation files to that and boot and install from the second partition and remove the USB connection during the installation. This worked fine!

Now my computer work but I almost gave up. Thansk all people knowledge sharing. My problem seems more difficult than what other has experienced on a Vostro V131 but by combining info it all got resolved!
