Attempting upgrade: "This version of windows cannot be installed"
I've been trying to upgrade from Vista Home Premium 32 bit to 7 32 bit. After a few hours it does its final reboot and shows the message above when I log into Vista. Computer is Acer Aspire 6920.
I ran the upgrade tool and the only thing that stands out to me is that is seems to have an issue with the Intel Pro Wireless thing. I updated the driver and software but still get the same warning. I uninstalled lots of software that I thought might be causing issues but still nothing, although the computer is running much faster now. I've been at it for weeks...
I located the setuperr log and see quite a few lines similar to:
2012-05-28 17:14:25, Error [0x080654] MIG Path not found for move target \\?\C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\History\History.IE5\index.dat; attempting to create it[gle=0x00000003]
2012-05-28 17:14:25, Error [0x080656] MIG Failed to restore file \\?\C:\$INPLACE.~TR\Machine\DATA\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\History\History.IE5\i ndex.dat to \\?\C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\History\History.IE5\index.dat[gle=0x00000003]
The complete setuperr file is attached.
I really don't want to do a clean install, I have a ton of programs and games I've gotten from giveawayoftheday.com that I cannot reinstall. Any help would be appreciated.
