External HDD Boot of old win 7 installation not working
I replaced my old HDD with a new SSD and a clean install of windows 7. Works flawlessly.
However I still want to have access to my old HDD and boot into its OS. So I bought a docking station to boot into through USB.
I originally had this HDD dual booting along side linux and then windows 8, and when I tried to boot from the hard drive (reinstalled in the disk bay) it seems it was still recognising the old installs. It still loaded into windows so I used EasyBCD and removed the other entries from the boot menu.
But now when I restart it goes to the blue screen with error 0xc000000e, and stating it can't find the winload.exe file or something.
It seems fiddling with the boot entries has done something I didn't expect... I know I left the windows 7 in the boot entry, and it wasn't the SSD windows 7 as that was removed at the time.
I tried using the external docking bay and booting through USB but the same error occurs. The only thing that has done anything is using EasyBCD while in windows on the SSD and adding a new entry of windows 7 recognised through the docking station. So now when I load into the HDD through the boot screen, it reaches the windows graphic, but then flashes blue and restarts. I've tried restarting in safe mode but that won't work either.
Thankfully the SSD install works fine. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
