Issue with XP and Windows 7 dual boot

I tried start up repairs, but it found no installation. I mentioned in my post.

No, it is not necessary to install SATA drivers. You already have a Win7 install. Is your Win7 installation media prompting for drivers?

Did you first confirm that the 100mb System Reserved partition (preferred if you have it) or Windows 7 partition (If you don't have System Reserved) is the Partition Marked Active? If you don't confirm the Active partition first then it will never repair.

If there is still no installation found to Repair, then complete all of the Commands from Step 5 of Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start.

Enter BIOS setup and look for the hard drive which is normally listed by Serial Number, under Storage or hard drives or in the BIOS Boot Priority order.

If it is listed somewhere, then google the serial to find the maker to run the maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan.

If it is not found in BIOS, then replace the cable or reseat the hard drive to try to get it detected. If it won't detect then replace it.

The best upgrade one can have is an SSD, lightning fast, even faster than buying a new high-end PC without one.

i disconnected all the connection to mobo and tried to connect to the hard drive. I was not at all successful in recognizing the hard drive in all the 4 slots that i have. Probably issue with hdd. If ever i connect to any port, the boot does not pass POST. i disconnected the cd drive also to check whether pc recognizes the hdd.
Now regarding the diagnostic tool, i did download seagate dos tool and tried to repair the hard drive. But since no port recognise the hdd , the repair could not be done at this stage.
If i connect this hdd to my regular hdd , then the boot stops at intel logo. I cannot believe stll that my hard drive is dead. No it could not. If only it recognises, then i could do something.
I tried to set optimal default bios settings, but no success till now.
If you have to install in two hard disk to have win 7 and winxp on the other, then you have to have all the programs and all separately for both the disks to be operated in bios settings. It is sheer waste of space in both the disks.
So, i tried the tutorial to have the pleasant features for some of the programs. Even gif file could not be made to play in win 7 with the video card, that i have. But xp splendidly plays those.
There were two parts in the tutorials, that if xp is installed first, as Ist and if win 7 is installed first. I have chosen the second and invariably get to this situation.
Greco, would you be kind enough to tell me how xp killing the win 7 bootables if installed as dual boot. Does this remove all the bootables of win 7 stored in sys res drive. Would that made computer not to boot.
If i just did the opposite, then would the win 7 steals the xp boot and the same thing will happen. I have yet to practice the instructions on Win 7 failure to boot link.
I also read an article in this regard about xp copying files and fail to reboot, on a win 7 already existing system in microsoft article , but it was not clear cut. Would you please say, how it kills, and how you could allow win 7 to boot.
I also saw words to the effect that if OS is not found, in rebuild bcd command, you could export something. Please would you give it in detail exclusively on this. This thread would not only benefit me but so much of users who would be doing the mistakes that i am doing.
i am also a bit surprised by the results of 3 commands, out of which 2 commands executed successfully even without recognizing the hdd , but the 3rd command gives failure message in bcd commands. How could those two executed successfully. Please clarify these points as it will be beneficail to the users of this forum

I used the slip streaming xp article by this forum to show my hard disk. I deleted all the partitions and had to close without installing the windows xp.
there started the trouble. From then on, my hard dsk not detected in bios or i could not access the hard drive. the sata drivers for my intel chipset desktop board d915ga v could not be located in intelsite. If anybody gives the exact driver link, it may be helpful. in slipstream the xp cd with the driver toatlest ge to some working I checked the sata port by connecting it with dvd drive and all the ports are working but it could not find my hard disk. please

If you install XP second after Win7 and don't unplug the Win7 drive, then XP will steal the boot from Win7. To repair this, confirm that the Win7 System Reserved partition (if you have it) or Win7 partition (if you don't) is Partition Marked Active
then run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times until Win7 boots and is again the System Active partition.

Then install EasyBCD (click Download - no Name or Email required) to Win7 to add XP.

Another method is to install XP virtually using a program like VM Ware, Virtual Player or Virtual Box.
