There is actually an easier way. Since it is somewhat different in Win7 than in Vista, I wrote a little tutorial last year which I only published for my computer club. Here we go:

In Windows 7 you have to go via Windows Live Photo Gallery. Do the following steps:

    · Open Live Essentials Photo Gallery
    · Click on File
    · Click on > Screen Saver Settings (This will open the Screen Saver Settings)
    · Browse to your folder with the video and open it (OK)
    · In the Use this theme list box, select Album
    · Then do Save
    · Now run Preview and see whether it works

The video format must be .wmv. If you have another format, convert it with Format factory http://www.formatoz.com/

I actually tried this way, did everything as i should, even read on the topic but my screensaver still wont play the full video. It starts and the first 2-3 seconds everything is fine and the suddenly a filmstrip icon appears. I found the same problem here and still didn't find an adequate answer, since my laptop's rating is above 3. Any help will be appreciated

    1ncredebil,
Welcome to the sevenforums. Give this tutorial a shot

    Dreamscene

I haven't tried the methods mentioned above (this is an old thread) but I have used the dreamscene tutorial and it worked.
