    Win7(SP-1) & System File Checker

    Windows 7(SP-1), 64Bit

How do you force System File Checker to check the correct folder in Windows 7(SP-1), 64Bit

When I run SFC /SCANNOW to check system files regedit takes me to

    C:\Windows\system32>

This check always completes successfully. No Problems.

You need to scan offline with the /scanfile switch to scan and repair a specific file. Illustrated here.

SFC /SCANNOW : Run in Command Prompt at Boot

For a full list of sfc switches, type sfc /? at the command prompt.

Thank you for the reply Bill2, one other question - The folder that SFC checks in Windows 7, contains both the 32Bit and 64Bit Windows 7 system files?

SFC initiates windows resource protection which protects files with defined extensions (including .dll, .drv, .inf and several others) and critical system folders and registry keys. And yes, it works on both 32 bit and 64 bit files.
