One possibility is you have "large" files on your HD that do not get defragmented by Windows defrag.

I don't know what the OP is doing,
but contig can be run manually, automatically, scheduled or howerver,
Contig is a program. Programs can be scheduled to run.
Defrag.exe is a program which can be scheduled to run.
Defrag.exe can be run manually.
I've defragged in all possible ways. My preference is to run contig manually, which will defrag large file pieces.
However, the defrag.exe is quite adequate.
