    defrag not working

Defrag will not work on the command line or on the control panel. tried startup repair, SFC but still will not work. Also there is no disk defragmenter in services.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Coinup mate try an add on defrag like Puran or My Defrag but try a chkdsk first Disk Check try Option 1 then if necessary Option 2.

The others are Puran Defrag Download

What do you mean by it won't work? What happens? Anything recorded in Event Viewer?

there was no disk defragmenter in services, so I just did an inplace upgrade and everything works fine. What caused the issue was a faulty graphics card, so rebooted via the reset button and that's when my problems started.

I have no idea how a graphics card will effect a defrag.

Well I can see the specs in your posts and I also cannot for the life of me see why the GPU should have anything to do with a defrag.

Now I did suggest you do a chkdsk but as yet it doesn't seem to have been done so why not try it as the system seems to me to be in a bit of a pickle!

As for the defrags I suggested well they are up to you I suppose.

Thank you for installing your system specs.
What Windows 7/64 are you using?
[QUOTE OS 7 64bit [/QUOTE]I would still like to have the answer to this from post #5.

A in place upgrade from what to what?

A third party defrag program will not start Windows 7 defrag service or sfc /scannow.

    From post # 1

SFC /SCANNOW must work to check Windows 7 System Files. Does sfc /scannow work now and what are the results?

This might help and won't hurt.

Layback I still reckon a chkdsk should be done even if in safe mode in addition to the SFC.

ICit2lol I have no problem with chkdsk.

I guess what I'm trying to get to is if basic Windows 7 services are not working (defrag, sfc /scannow and possibility chkdsk) their are probably a lot more of Windows 7 service also not working. Which might mean when coinup updated from something to something might be the cause. What was updated and what method was used? Where did the update come from?
    Lots of unknown things.

I do believe we both need more answers from
    coinup.

All I can come up with is the broken GPU, corrupted something within windows 7, to extent that there was no disk defrag in services, when I did a hard reset.

All things are working ok now, after an inplace upgrade, which wasn't the way I wanted to do it, but was the easy way of doing the repair.
