Low risk files (gpedit)/HomePremium

Hello, SevenForums,

I don't know if this topic is fine in this subforum, but since it is related to Windows security and all that, I decided to post it here. I recently installed Windows 7 Home Premium x64 in my PC and found myself having problems with the lack of gpedit in this version. I'm trying to edit the list of low risk files to include the commonest extensions (exe, zip, bat, etc.) to avoid being prompted with confirmation every time I try to use one of those files, but I don't know how. I'm sure there must be an alternative method for doing this, but I don't know how. Maybe through the registry editor? Can I get some help, please?

If you mean with UAC, then you cannot create a exclusion list with it. You can use the tutorial below to adjust how UAC notifies you, but it is applied to everything.

Zigzag, AFAIK, there is no "GUI" for the gpedit options in the Home versions of Windows 7. There options are still there, but you have to access them through other means. Well, I was finally able to deactivate that prompt through Internet Options > Security > Custom and then enabling the option that bypasses the protection. For the time being, I haven't been asked whether I really wanted to use that file or not with .exe file.

That is correct. gpedit.msc does not exist in editions of Windows 7 lower in specification than Professional. However, many of the functions can still be found in the registry and elsewhere, like you mentioned above.
