just installed free macrium w7 64 bit backup. created image bu on external hd. created both pe and linux recovery cds. inserted cd, shut down system; turned on system, no boot from either cd; windows came up normally.

    what could be my problem?

Tell your bios to boot from cdromdrive first.

You probably have an option if you watch the screen carefully as your machine starts up - something like press FKEY WHATEVER for boot menu, or boot options, or similar.

Hi rnhende and welcome to Seven Forums.

With HP machines you can press Esc early in the boot sequence to get to the start menu. The F9 boot menu is an option from there.

It's not uncommon for the Linux disk to fail. The PE disk is much better.
