    DBAN help

I have a few questions actually, i'm hoping most can be answered in this one thread.

First, i ran DBAN and it hung at pci sysfig. google told me it was the card reader and to disable it in the bios setup, however i cannot find that option. can you tell me what to look for?

Second, i am using a REINSTALLATION cd for windows 7, and i wanted to know if a dban swipe of the OEM partition will destroy the data and prevent me from reinstallation. (again, google told me that the installation code was on that partition.) I would like verification of that.

and my last question, after a dban wipe, and booting from the windows cd, what drives will be available for installation of windows? will there just be a single (i assume) C: drive?

    Hi,

Lets start by asking what you are trying to do? Do you want to wipe your hard drive and do a clean installation of Windows 7? If so, then I think a better approach would be to do this:

    1. Wipe the drive using DISKPART and CLEAN commands during installation - its as good as DBAN

Disk - Clean and Clean All with Diskpart Command

    2. Reinstall Windows 7 from your installation DVD (or ISO)

Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

This is the best and most efficient way to get a clean installation. You do not need DBAN to prepare a disk for re-installation - DISKPART will wipe all partitions leaving you a single partition to install to.
