    creating system imaage


    I have a windows 7 Pro installed on my pc with a 80 GB HDD. I want to upgrade HDD, but don't want to lose any data. If I create a system Imagine from with the back and restore will this make a copy of everything on this 80gb HDD so I reinstall it onto another HDD?

    Please post a screenshot of disk management. Is new disk larger than old disk? new disk can be cleared completely first?

    When restoring a system image made by win7 built-in software:
    • New disk will have exactly same partition layout. So restoring on smalller disk is impossible
    • Because partitions are not in same layout yet.... win7 restore will clean the new disk and create the partition layout
    • You need a win7 install dvd or win7 system repair disc and boot from it to start the restore

I have created an early system image and would like to create another one, after using the machine for a while. I found that if I create another system image it will overwrite the earlier one. That would defeat the purpose of having that early system image. Is there a way around this?

i want to create a system image.. but the problem is that my windows partition contains 74 gb of data...i will be storing the image on DVDs .... so i would like to know that will the image be compressed (so that it takes lesser DVDs) or will it be of the same size as my windows partition is?

When my Win 7 computer was new I created a System Image (In Backup & Restore). Is it necessary to keep updating this backup or having created the System Image is that it? Mind you having read some of the posts here I wonder if it is worth it. Thanks for any advice.
