    If HP Win7 DVD will not boot to format Vista, then run it from Vista to install over Vista or to a second partition you create in Disk Management: Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and Vista

    Later we can help you remove Vista if you want.

    Make sure you have the BIOS boot order set to boot from DVD and try again: Boot from CD - How to Boot your Computer from a Bootable CD or DVD - Boot to CD

    Look also for a Boot Menu shortcut key given on first bootup screen to trigger DVD drive.
