Most likely you need DDR2 memory, which is dirt cheap...

According to this MS page: Memory Limits for Windows Releases (Windows) you can have 2 GB. Scroll down to:
"Physical Memory Limits: Windows 7 " - Starter

I've been using IE8 with 1GB RAM on Vista ever since it came out. (My Windows 7 computer came with 2 GB RAM.) If it works with 1GB on Vista it should also on 7. Make sure you get all the necessary Windows Updates.

Roncerr, according to his computers manufacturer, he can only run 1GB. It doesn't matter what the software can support if the hardware can't support it as well.

I said it should work with 1 GB; and that I'm using 1 GB on Vista. (I merely mentioned that my new computer came with 2 GB which happens to be running Win 7.) But IE8 it works fine with 1 GB. So he should upgrade from .5 to 1 GB.
