    IE8 x64 Protected Mode:Off ?

    Hi,

This has been bothering me for a while. Can anyone shed light on the apparent anomaly in the image below? Obviously I have rebooted several times, but in each case IE8 still shows the Protected Mode:Off status.

    Regards,
    Golden

if you cant just uncheck it and restart your browser you have a problem, try re-installing, dont forget you can save your favorites and cookies etc, and re-import them

    Hello Golden,

Do you have UAC turned off?

If so, then that would disable IE Protected Mode even if you have IE Protected Mode turned on. Turning UAC back on will sort it.

(see warning box in link below)
Internet Explorer Protected Mode - Turn On or Off

    Hope this helps,

Ha! Nothing gets past you eh Brink? Indeed I have had UAC turned off. I've been reading up a bit about that recently, and have decided to turn it back up to a default or slightly lower level again. +1 to you Sir.

    Thanks,

And just to confirm, turning UAC up a level and rebooting, does indeed place IE8 into Protected mode
