Solved IMDB Trailers Won't Play - Is it the newly installed Chrome browser?

Thank You

Thank you, UsernameIssues; I appreciate your help and am willing to go a little further in trying to resolve the issue, if you don't mind contending with me. But certainly, I'll let you know when I'd like to "wash my hands of it." And likewise, if you want to pull out at any time, please feel free to do so on your own initiative; that's fine with me and I'll certainly understand. Thank you.

I did get back into the safe mode and opened IE. But, like Chrome, it couldn't access anything on the Internet but IE gave a popup (screenshot attached). (I wasn't aware that I was even on a Proxy setting; would it not be better if I were NOT on a proxy?)

I'm not sure if you would be better off using a proxy or not. The answer depends on what the proxy does. If the proxy is a part of your security suite (e.g. antivirus, firewall, website filter...) then being behind a proxy is good. If the proxy is from an infection, then being behind a proxy is bad.

What antivirus app are you using?

maranatha4u,

Since Google Chrome uses the same connection and proxy settings as Windows Internet Exlorer, please do the following:

Download MiniToolBox
Save to the Desktop
Double-click the dowloaded file to run it.

At the program console, please check the following:
  • Flush DNS
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List Winsock Entries
Click: Go

When done, a Result.txt is saved in the same directory where the tool is run. In this case, the Desktop.

:ar: Please post the Result.txt in your reply.

Resolved

Hello Again - Sorry for the delay in getting back with you.

I used Malwarebytes Antimalware this morning, and it had found two (2) objects. When they were eliminated, everything worked perfectly - all videos from the Watch Trailer buttons in IMDB . . . and any other video. So SORRY to have put you through all of this. I had no clue whatsoever that this was the cause, as I TRY to keep my system very clean - regular scans with Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes Antimalware.

So, thank you again for your kindness in trying to help here; I GREATLY appreciate it. Everything now works perfectly.

Thanks ThrashZone for your help; I do have regular connectivity (not a Proxy), and the proxy popup I had seen was from discovered malware (2) which were found through Malwarebytes Antimalware. Everything now works perfectly. Thanks again for your input here, too. :)
