In windows 7 , IE 11 cannot-enable-or-disable-any add-ons

Fellow W7 users,

This is a challenge for anybody who can help me ...nobody could figure it out yet !

In windows 7 , IE 11 I cannot-enable-or-disable-any add-ons via tools , there is a stopsign in front of it.

There are no malware or virusses
I am the administartor
I have re installed IE11 several times via tools advanced etc.
Security level in IE 11 is normal. Enhanced security is off.
I even installed Local policy Editor, and via gpedit.msc, did the following :
1, click Start menu

2, type gpedit.msc in search box, press Enter to open Local Group Policy Editor

3, expand User Configuration-->Administrative Templates-->Windows Components-->Internet Explorer

4, in right window, find out and double click Do not allow users to enable or disable add-ons

5, click Not Configured or Disabled

6, click OK to save settings

Allas, everyhting failed, and I still cannot change my add-ons, it is blocked. See image.
The image is dutch but it speaks for itself.

Who can help ?

Hi and Welcome to the Forum
Has this just happened? If so try a system restore to a point behind when it happened, see here:
System Restore - Microsoft Windows
If not try running sfc /scannow see here:

Hello mitchell,

Thanks for the reply..system restore is not an option anymore.

I did run sfc/scannow, and it said that there were damaged files, but that they could not all be fixed ..

The log i could not open ..

Do you have any ideas ?

Why is system restore no an option?
Need a bit more information to help you here. What log were you unable to open?
Run sfc /scannow again and make a screenshot of the final window. Use the snipping tool for this see here:

Can you post a snip of the IE11 All Add Ons window?

This is the preferred, best way to upload an image or a file to a post.

Press the ALT and PrntScrn keys at the same time, this will capture only the active window to use in Paint or your preferred graphics editor.

You may also upload a photo or image you already have on your PC,as you would a file, without using the Snipping tool.

Sorry did an edit to my post above and this crossed other posts. Have you tried clicking the "Show more restore points button. Did you delete the previous restore points?

No prob, show you the total image anyway..all ad ons.

I did not delete them..there was a rootkit in my system, that maybe dleted them, but that has been removed, and repaired..

The so called Stop sign is normal,
What the other problem is your most likely not set to Show All Add-ons,

Take another screen shot/ it might not help us because the objects will be in a different language

Then take another simply opening Internet explorer,
I what to see your homepage or what ever page that opens when you open ie,
In-Private browsing will not allow add-ons to be enabled,
Enhanced protection mode will also hamper the ability to activate add-ons, = uncheck the option,

You may well still have some infection preventing you from working with add-ons. Are you sure that is the All Addons, not Currently Loaded ones? Here is mine.

I told you guys , this is a brainbreaking issue...

My image in dutch are "All Add-ons"

@ Britton, I saw yours, but this is what I get., these few.

@ Thrash:
I already unchecked :
"In-Private browsing will not allow add-ons to be enabled ",
"Enhanced protection mode " under security in IE

Still , the same problem !

Since you said you had an infection...

Please download AdwCleaner:
http://general-changelog-team.fr/fr/downloads/finish/20-outils-de-xplode/2-adwcleaner
Save to the desktop.

Close all open programs.
To run the program, right-click AdwCleaner.exe and select: Run as Administrator

Click on Search and confirm the prompt.
After the program finishes, a text file report opens.
Please post the content of the C:\AdwCleaner[Rx].txt in your reply. In the reply window click the "#" icon at the top and paste the log text between the [code ] Paste Here [ /code] tags.

Do NOT perform the delete part before I or someone else can read the log.

To delete:

Run AdwCleaner once again.
This time click on: Delete
When done, please post the content of the C:\AdwCleaner[Sx].txt in your reply as outlined above..

Follow the adwcleaner instructions,

Invoegtoepassingen This does actually mean "Add-ons" pretty long word figured it meant "Currently loaded add-ons"

I'd still like to see what page ie opens too,
Including all toolbars and Taskbar..

Hello Britton & Thrash,

Before this thread, I posted a topic/thread on our dutch Hijjackthis forum, we ran, adwcleaner, tdsskiller, TFC, Windows Repair Tweak, JRT (junkware removal tool) , ESET scan onlibe, Malware Bytes Premium,etc.
All with logs and have been looked at.

No malware and virusses, rootkits found.

Problem still the same. even with registry from Windows 7 Prof. installed.

Luckely we also have some short dutch words Thrash...

, thrash meaning "slaan" in dutch...
And for you the startup IE, no strange things there, no bing, etc etc.

Lets see your Uninstall a program list if you don't mind,
Also have you review your startup and services list ?
Click start and type msconfig in the search box,
Go to startup and then services and check the box to Hide all Microsoft services on the bottom left,
Don't worry about the language thing we can ask Kari to help out if we need to

So take screen shots of the 3 above sections,

Mike (Thrash Zone) how about uninstalling IE11 from Windows Updates and reverting to IE10 to see if the issues remains? Then run Updates to re-install IE11?

BTW, Kari is Finnish.

@ Hash Zone

(we are dutch) : In know my way around pc's

, I uninstalled via control panel, programs and features etc. Furthermore which services do I have to look for concerning my problem..?. and which start ups ?
in particular ...

@ Britton: You mean delete the IE 11 update via control panel, progrs feat. installes updates, etc. and run windows update..again ?

@ A Guy & the rest, did the elevated command prompt, thanks for the tip!...see attachement.
( I did instal a Local group Policy Editor, thats what is also says in the description...about not able to repair..View attachment sfcdetails.txt)

@ everybody

From other helpers I got the message, that there were serious problems with the system files, from the sfclog, they suggested a recovery /factory reset.

He even mentioned that my pc could have been hacked by ..a fileinjectorvirus

What do you think ?
